WHat we offer

For Students

To Be an MD offers a range of educational resources and support services at no cost to students. Students may engage directly with workshops, focused guidance, and educational programming designed to support their progression along the medical pipeline.

Formal mentorship is provided through structured cohorts coordinated with partner programs and affiliated organizations, rather than through open enrollment. Cohort-based mentorship prioritizes fit, availability, and support needs while ensuring mentors are supported and programs remain sustainable.

How Mentors Are Supported

Mentors are the foundation of effective mentorship. Our programs are designed to respect mentor time, prevent overload, and set clear expectations for engagement. Mentor engagement is coordinated through partner programs to ensure alignment with program goals and capacity.

As programs grow and funding allows, mentor support may include formal recognition, leadership opportunities, professional development, and stipends or honoraria. Compensation structures vary by program and are never dependent on student payment.

Above all, mentors are supported through structure, clarity, and intentional design.

For Programs & Institutions

We partner with schools, student organizations, and pipeline programs to facilitate structured mentorship cohorts for pre-medical and medical trainees.

Programs work with us to:

  • Support application intake
  • Clarify mentorship goals
  • Run structured matching cycles
  • Provide mentor/mentee training
  • Offer targeted workshops and professional development sessions
  • Gather participant feedback through periodic surveys

Matching is supported by structured tools that prioritize fairness, transparency, and human review, while allowing programs to scale without unnecessary administrative burden. Institutions are charged for program facilitation and support — never students.

Speaking & Educational Engagements

To Be an M.D. also offers speaking engagements and workshops for schools, organizations, and conferences. Common topics include but are not limited to:

  • Navigating the medical pipeline
  • Building sustainable mentorship programs
  • Understanding the hidden curriculum of medicine

Speaking engagements are offered by request and may be fee-based depending on scope and setting.
